Third Annual Run 4 The Cause to Benefit Christy’s Cause

Non-profit working to eradicate child sex trafficking

 The Third Annual “Run 4 The Cause”, a 5K Fun Run & Walk to support Christy’s Cause will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Living Waters Church, 22100 S. Tamiami Trail, Estero, FL 33928.   Christy’s Cause is a local non-profit working to eradicate child sex trafficking through education, public awareness, restoration projects, and justice initiatives.

“Less than 1% of all sex trafficking victims are ever identified,” said Christy Ivie, founder of Christy’s Cause. “Human Trafficking ties second as the largest global enterprise with Florida ranking third in the nation for reported cases.  We are fighting to make a difference in the lives of those who desperately need our help.”

More than $42,000 was raised by more than 400 participants in 2017.  The 2018 goal is $50,000 and 500 participants. 

The event will include a professionally-timed 5K Run and non-timed Walk.  The run will begin at 7:30 a.m. with awards ceremony at 8:15 a.m.  The walk will begin at 9:00 a.m.  The fee to participate is $25.00 per person plus a $3.00 signup fee.  The price increases to $30.00 per person after February 16.  A $5.00 discount will apply to a second participant.  Walkers and runners have the option fundraise.

Placement awards will be given to the top overall male and female runners, top boy and girls ages 6-12, top males and females in the following age groups: 13-17, 18-39, 40-54 and 55 plus.  Walkers will have a chance to win giveaways from local businesses.  Registrants will receive a drawstring bag that include a quality race t-shirt, bib, timing tag for runners and an event map.
