The needs are GREATER than ever this year as a result of the chaos caused by Hurricane Irma.
Our Goal is to raise $340,000 and I am requesting that each family contribute $40.00 each or more if you are able. Of course ALL Donations will be gratefully appreciated!
Although the economy is improving many Southwest Floridians still struggle to make ends meet. About 159,530 people in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee Counties do NOT have consistent access to nutritious food, and about two thirds of public school children in Southwest Florida are eligible for or receive free or reduced-price meals from their school because of their families low income!
Following are some excellent examples of the problem; 75% must choose between food & medical care, 80% choose between food & utilities, 73% choose between food & transportation, 39% have no family members with health insurance, 72% choose between food and housing, 7% reside in temporary housing and 19% have experienced a foreclosure or eviction!
Our Team this year, THE FIRE-FIGHTIN IRISH, is comprised of four of us from Estero Fire Rescue and we are Susan Lindenmuth, Public Information Director, Jeff Maas, Fire District Commissioner, Jim Mendolera Fire District Commissioner and Dick Schweers Fire District Commissioner. We also include other groups that contribute including the Notre Dame Club of Southwest Florida, The United Irish Club of Southwest Florida and the Estero Chamber of Commerce!
PLEASE MAKE YOUR CHECKS OUT TO “the Harry Chapin Hunger Walk” and mail them to the attention of any one of the four of us at Estero Fire Rescue, 21500 Three Oaks Parkway, Estero, Florida 33928.
Thank you so very, very much for your generosity!
