Dear Chamber Friends,

Earlier this week, Florida’s legendary political expert Marian Johnson unveiled the Florida Chamber’s Early Voting Dashboard, providing daily updates of absentee and early voting performance. With Florida’s ever-changing political environment, the Florida Chamber’s Political Program is constantly analyzing who is voting and how they are voting.
For example, we know more women are turning in their vote-by-mail (VBM) ballots than men across both parties, and that grandma and her friends over 60 are the largest population of voters requesting VBM ballots.
In this week’s roundup of Florida Chamber In The News, take ten seconds to sign up to receive the Early Voting Dashboard, and get the complete breakdown – in individual races, by county and statewide.

The I-4 Corridor & Florida’s Economy
Florida’s new $1 trillion GDP milestone was center stage this week as Florida Chamber Foundation Chief Economist Dr. Jerry Parrish provided the keynote address at the third annual I-4 Corridor Conference at Florida Polytechnic University.
“Manufacturing has a large portion of GDP,” Parrish told the Lakeland Ledger. “It has a high value-added rate. That’s great for diversifying our economy.”
Earlier in the week in GateHouse Media publications statewide, Dr. Parrish explained that Florida’s economic success is the result of Governor Rick Scott helping ensure workers were job number one. Governor Scott “made Florida a place where people are comfortable investing private capital. They know that government is not going to get in their way.”

2018 Election Cycle
Florida Politics reported that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce this week endorsed Julio Gonzalez in Florida’s 17th Congressional District. Gonzalez, who was a Florida Chamber-backed state lawmaker, scored a 96 percent “A” on the Florida Chamber’s Legislative Report Card.
Henry Parrish III, the Florida Chamber-endorsed candidate in House District 51 was featured this week in Florida Today. Parrish is a strong pro-jobs candidate with a proven track record of supporting economic development.
The Madison Enterprise-Recorder this week continued its Know Before You Vote series profiling proposed constitutional amendments that will appear before voters in November. Recent Florida Chamber statewide polling results show that Amendment Nine currently doesn’t have the required 60 percent of votes to secure a victory.
