Business Crime Prevention Specialist
Dr. Kim Swanson started her professional life as the Executive Director of the Women’s Resource Center before working at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for the last 23 years where she has served as a Sheriff’s Deputy, founded the Senior Services Unit and was a Public Information Officer. She is currently the Business Crime Prevention Specialist covering all of Lee County.
Kim holds several certifications including a S.A.F.E. self-defense instructor and has multiple degree’s including a PhD in Business Administration. Her PhD dissertation was on the topic of Workplace Violence.
She has been an instructor for the Florida Attorney General’s Office Crime Prevention Training Institute, the Florida Crime Prevention Association and the National Sheriff’s Association Triad organization.
Kim was selected as the 2015 Florida Crime Prevention Practitioner of the Year.
She has been married for 39 years and has a son. Kim grew up on a farm outside of Lindsborg, Kansas (Little Sweden USA). She enjoys spending time with family, walking, researching crime issues, drinking coffee, reading and celebrating her Swedish heritage.
