In celebration of Florida Gulf Coast University’s 20th Anniversary, the Art Galleries of the Bower School of Music & the Arts and Florida Gulf Coast University Library present the 20th Anniversary Art Walk, featuring multiple exhibitions in several locations on the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) campus on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 5-8pm.

The 20th Anniversary Art Walk will begin at 5pm in the Wasmer Art Gallery with the 20/20: Art Alumni Exhibition, with a curator talk at 5:40pm. The twenty artists chosen for the exhibition represent the range of ideas and techniques that the faculty and staff are proud to have been a part of shaping. This exhibition is sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and will run from August 21 – September 21, 2017.

At 6pm attendees will be invited to the FGCU Library for the opening reception of 20 Years: The Creation of FGCU, in the Archives & Special Collections Gallery. Featuring an exploration of the land development and structural growth of FGCU, several speakers will share their experiences including founding University President Roy McTarnaghan. The exhibition will run from August 7 – December 15, 2017.

The 20th Anniversary Art Walk will culminate with a reception and performance from 7-8pm at the ArtLab Gallery, on the first floor of the Library Building, as part of the 20/20: Art Alumni Exhibition.  In celebration of the generous donations made to the FGCU Art Galleries, Selections from the FGCU Art Galleries’ Permanent Collection will be on display in the Library Reference Area, also located on the first floor of the Library Building.

The Wasmer Art Gallery and ArtLab Gallery are open Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm, Thursday from 10am to 7pm. The Archives & Special Collections Gallery is open Monday thorugh Friday from 9am to 5pm.
