Leadership Estero 2024-2025: Environment Day
The Greater Estero Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Estero classmates embraced their wild side during Environment Day! The day started at the new Discovery Center at Lovers Key State Park, where they walked along a maritime hammock on Black Island Trail. They had an open dialogue with a panel of industry experts on the topic of sustainable development in Southwest Florida, with speakers including representatives of London Bay Development Group, Lee County’s Department of Natural Resources, RVi Planning + Landscape Architecture, Passarella & Associates, Inc., and J.R. Evans Engineering, P.A.
Next, the class took a behind-the-scenes tour of The Water School at Florida Gulf Coast University, before cooling off in a faculty-led wet walk through a cypress dome on campus. The variety and scope of efforts locally to enhance and protect our environment are so important, because so much of our economy depends upon the quality of our water and lands.
